The Elsass is a group of investors—most with deep roots in Castroville—working together to preserve, restore, and revitalize our historic downtown.
Our goal is simple: honor what makes Castroville special while creating new reasons for people to gather, shop, dine, and experience our community.
Through thoughtful restoration and local investment, we’re helping historic spaces find new life while supporting small businesses, arts, entertainment, dining, and community events.

Why
“The Elsass”?
Elsass is the German name for Alsace, the region of France from which Castroville’s original settlers came.
When Henri Castro founded Castroville in 1844, many of its first families brought with them the traditions, architecture, food, faith, and culture of their Alsatian homeland—an influence that can still be seen throughout our community today.
The Elsass is our way of honoring those roots while investing in the next chapter of historic downtown Castroville.
