Last weekend, the heart of Castroville came alive with popcorn, applause, and a deep appreciation for storytelling at the Elsass Film Festival in the historic Elsass District. Hosted in partnership with the City of Castroville, this community-centered celebration of film was more than just a series of screenings—it was a chance to gather, connect, and support local creativity.
A Festival With Heart
The Elsass Film Festival was created with one goal in mind: to give our community a place to come together and experience the magic of cinema, right here in the heart of town. Several local and Bexar County student filmmakers showed off their skills with short films and animations on the big screen at Rainbow Theater, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
What Made It Special?
- Locally-Curated Film Screenings
The lineup featured short films by local student creators, curated short films and animations. - Interactive Panels
Attendees got the chance to participate in filmmaker Q&As - Support From Local Businesses
Elevate on Fiorella hosted the Elsass Film Festival Reception the night before during Castroville’s monthly Fiorella Friday Night. Refreshments were served while film makers, family and community members got to visit with one another and our guest judge, Matt Cook (writer, producer, director).
A Look Ahead
The success of this year’s festival have us dreaming big. We’re already planning how to make next year even better—with more films, more interactive experiences, and even more ways to bring the Castroville community together.
If you were part of this special weekend, thank you. And if you missed it—don’t worry. The Elsass Film Festival will return, and we can’t wait to see you there.
